Subject: 30 April 2009 – Holodomor Education Team meeting.
Ukrainian Professional Teachers’ Association of Ontario.
The second benchmark meeting was held on 30 April 2009.
The meeting chaired by
Andrij Melnyk was attended by interested teachers from various schools
in Ontario.
Andrij outlined the success to date with the third reading and passage of the “Holodomor Memorial Day Act” [Bill 147] in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The Bill was lead by Dave Levac, Liberal MPP for Brant, along with Cheri DiNovo, NDP MPP for Parkdale-High Park, and Frank Klees, PC MPP for Newmarket- Aurora.
The official record reads that as many as 10 million Ukrainians perished. This was also the first tri-sponsored bill to pass in the history of Ontario.
The meeting continued: Curriculum issues were discussed by Valentina Kuryliw, Political action by Alexander Chumak, Professional development by Andrij Melnyk and Communications by Eugene Yakovitch.

been informed that Valentina will be acting as a consultant to the TDSB
