On 12 June 2008 members of the Ukrainian community met with The Toronto District School Board

(TDSB) trustees. The objective of the meeting was to observe the decision  making process of the trustees

regarding the inclusion of the Holodomor (Famine/Genocide in Ukraine 1932-33)  in the core curriculum

on Genocides for 2008.

The trustees referred to the Holodomor as Holodomor thus indicating that our branding of the Holodomor

was successful. On 13 June 2008, articles in the Toronto Sun (page 7), the Globe and Mail (p. A12)  and

the Toronto Star (p. A17) covered the TDSB meeting.  The Toronto Star didn't refer to the Holodomor as

Holodomor.

In the end the trustees voted to remain with three pre-selected genocides. This decision ran counter to the

information provided and their own unanimous acknowledgement that there is not a person at the Board

who would dispute the Ukrainian genocide by Stalin.
