Olesia Palinska and Oksana Turkevych, the authors of “Krok do Ukrainy”, are in Canada until May 13, 2012. In Toronto, they were attending a national conference: “Ukrainian Schooling in Canada: To Be Canadian and Remain Ukrainian.”  The conference was organized by the Ukrainian National School Board of Canada, Ukrainian Canadian School Board-Toronto Branch, and the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada Ukrainian School Initiatives Committee, with the support of Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

The Summer Ukrainian Language Institute will take place from July 7 to 28, 2012 on campus at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Participants will be provided with accommodation in the university dormitory. Students will receive all the educational materials necessary for learning. In addition to regular classes, MIOK staff has prepared for the participants an entertainment and cultural program: excursions of the city and surrounding area, visits to theatres, meeting with outstanding Lviv celebrities and more. After successful completion of SULI, all participants will be awarded certificates.

SULI is co-organized with Providence Group, a Ukrainian-Canadian company dedicated to international education, raising the profile of Ukrainian institutions of higher learning in Canada, and providing opportunities for Ukrainian youth to study in Canada.  Providence Group acts as a promoter and registrar of students for SULI, while MIOK at Lviv Polytechnic National University is responsible for curriculum development, teaching, direct administration during the SULI period, and student learning and living environment.
