Summer Ukrainian Language Institute – Register by May 31, 2012!
Toronto-Lviv – The Summer Ukrainian Language
Institute (SULI), part of the International Institute of Education, Culture and
Diaspora Relations (MIOK), Lviv Polytechnic National University, extends its
deadline for registration until May 31, 2012 for this summer’s course on the
Ukrainian Language and Culture in downtown Lviv, Ukraine.
Don’t miss the
opportunity to study the Ukrainian Language in Lviv this summer with the best
instructors of “Ukrainian as a Second Language” in Ukraine. The Institute’s
instructors are authors of the renown and first of its kind textbook called,
“Krok do Ukrainy,” that is especially written for individuals who desire to
learn the Ukrainian language.
Olesia Palinska and
Oksana Turkevych, the authors of “Krok do Ukrainy”, are in Canada until May 13,
2012. In Toronto, they were attending a national conference: “Ukrainian
Schooling in Canada: To Be Canadian and Remain Ukrainian.” The conference was
organized by the Ukrainian National School Board of Canada, Ukrainian Canadian
School Board-Toronto Branch, and the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada
Ukrainian School Initiatives Committee, with the support of Ukrainian Canadian
Congress.
The Summer
Ukrainian Language Institute will take place from July 7 to 28, 2012 on campus
at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Participants will be provided with
accommodation in the university dormitory. Students will receive all the
educational materials necessary for learning. In addition to regular classes,
MIOK staff has prepared for the participants an entertainment and cultural
program: excursions of the city and surrounding area, visits to theatres,
meeting with outstanding Lviv celebrities and more. After successful completion
of SULI, all participants will be awarded certificates.
SULI is co-organized
with Providence Group, a Ukrainian-Canadian company dedicated to international
education, raising the profile of Ukrainian institutions of higher learning in
Canada, and providing opportunities for Ukrainian youth to study in Canada.
Providence Group acts as a promoter and registrar of students for SULI, while
MIOK at Lviv Polytechnic National University is responsible for curriculum
development, teaching, direct administration during the SULI period, and
student learning and living environment.
